Whoah.

Is Prayer the only thing left?
Saw this on the Wooster Colective site, kind of stopped me in my tracks. Very thought provoking. The words written about it give it a modern feel. I look at the art and think of many, many questions about how we live our modern lives, how we relate to others. For all the poignancy of the imagery though, the photos to show a piece of artwork asking questions of ourselves and yet all we see is life passng by it, onwards to wherever - work?
It also makes me think about the idea of ephemerality in art work and how this applies to music making. Or maybe should apply to music making.

A simple joy

Cycling into work on monday, going up the final slope. Out of a tree comes a woodpecker. The black and white and pinkish red. Short bursts of bouncing flight, up and down for about 30 yards in front of me. It lands in a willow and tucks itself behind a branch.

Then on the way home, above the hedges, wheeling in the afternoon sky, two swifts. I've never seen swifts outside of Norfolk before. I stopped and just stared, amazed. Filled with simple joy.

Am preparing to listen to Alison Brackenbury talk about John Clare on radio 3.

(And getting ready for White Noise Summer)
